Every WordPress site I run ends up needing the same handful of things: email that actually arrives, a cookie banner, some idea of who’s visiting, short links for sharing, and, on team sites, an easy way to thank each other. The popular plugins for each of these come with ads in the dashboard, a Pro version, or a remote service I didn’t want. So I built my own, small and focused, and they’re free.

Shlinky

Shlinky connects WordPress to Shlink, the open-source URL shortener you host yourself. Publish a post and it gets a short link straight away, ready for socials and newsletters.

  • Create short links automatically on publish, per post type, and keep them in sync when the URL or tags change
  • Bulk scan to add short links to older posts
  • A dashboard with visit stats and charts
  • Manage every short link and tag: create, edit, delete, QR codes and redirect rules
  • Custom slugs and tags from the block editor sidebar or the classic metabox
  • Several Shlink servers, with API keys stored encrypted

WB Mailer

WB Mailer takes over wp_mail, so your site’s emails go out through a real mail provider instead of PHP mail(), and you can see what was sent.

  • Resend, SMTP, Mailgun, SendGrid and Amazon SES
  • Several connections, routed by From address, with a default and a backup if one fails
  • Email logs with retention, and resend from the log
  • Import your settings from Fluent SMTP, WP Mail SMTP or Easy WP SMTP, and clean up what they leave behind
  • Simulation mode for staging sites, so nothing goes out by accident
  • Credentials stored encrypted, or the Resend key in wp-config.php

A cookie consent banner without remote APIs or a subscription. It scans your own site for scripts and blocks only the ones you approve, until a visitor agrees.

  • Three banner styles (compact card, one-line pill, quiet corner), light or dark, in your brand colour
  • Essential, statistics and marketing categories
  • Script discovery by crawling your site locally, or by browsing it as an admin
  • Optional Google Consent Mode defaults and WP Consent API support
  • A [wbsc_manage_consent] shortcode for your privacy or cookie policy page, so visitors can see and change their choices

WB Super Analytics

Analytics without cookies or a third party: visits are recorded in your own WordPress database.

  • Overview, pages, referrers, locations, devices, campaigns, clicks and journeys
  • Custom events, including form plugins and emails sent through WB Mailer
  • A public tracking API for your own themes and plugins
  • Page view counts in the admin bar and post lists

WP Slack Callout

A way for teams to recognise each other in public. Team members pick colleagues and write a callout on a WordPress page, and it’s posted to your Slack channel with everyone properly tagged.

  • Callouts to one or more teammates, tagged in Slack so they get notified
  • Team members add their Slack handle to their WordPress profile, or with the [slack_profile_form] shortcode
  • Shortcodes for the callout form ([slack_callout]) and personal stats ([slack_callout_stats])
  • Reporting and history pages in the admin, with sent and received counts per person
  • Scheduled stats reports to webhooks, daily, weekly or monthly
